DIY Egg Surprise

My son loves Kinder Surprise Eggs. To be honest, even I love them too! But I do no want to spend P46 everyday on a chocolate and a small toy. So I decided to just to my own version.

We are celebrating Easter next week so most of the toystores are selling plastic eggs. I got 8 eggs for P79.

I also bought candy for P25 for the whole pack.

We buy a lot of extra toys that we keep for my son and I found these small cars that I can use (my son loves cars by the way).

I also snagged some Cars stickers at the bookstore P40 for both. The other designs were nicer but more expensive also and I just wanted thos project to be very cost efficient.

I just opened all the eggs and placed the goodies inside.

Inside I placed 2 candy packs, 1 toy and a cut up sticker.

Then I closed the eggs and decorated with stickers.

I did all these for about 30 minutes and I cannot wait for my son to wake up to see these. 

The great thing about this project is that you can reuse and redesign the eggs after they have been opened.

Mini Scrapbooks

I am guilty of over spending this year on craft supplies. It was like Pandora's box when I discovered Project Life, May of this year and it has rekindled my love for papers, stickers and other things. 

But being a mother now means my priorities have also changed, and to save up on my excess spending, I have decided to make DIY Christmas gifts. I want to make a mini scrapbook set for my closest friends and here's a tutorial that you might me able to use also 😊

I used a 12x12 scrapbook paper stock.

Then I cut it into 3 strips, with the size of 4x12 inches.

Then I used a peg board to put a folding mark on the sheets.

It looks like this when you fold the sheets. Just arrange the pages in alternate to give the inside page a variation.

Then you staple the sheets. I got this long stapler from National Bookstore long before because I had a dream of creating my own zine.

Just embellish the front and you can also personalize with stickers and ephemeras.

Project Life

I discovered Project Life this May, hen we were organizing a craft fair for the mall where I work. I just googled the word "PL" and it was love at first sight. Since the kits are not available in malls I mustered enough courage to message one of my PL inspirations, ocdscrapper in instagram. She kindly told me where to get the materials locally. 

My search for the materials is on, and because I am a nanay, my budget didn't permit me to splurge on buying these new scrapbook materials. The albums and page protectors aren't cheap, and let's not even start with the journal cards. So I started small, I didn't buy the album yet which was already more than one thousand pesos. I just bought the page protectors, bought some paper at National bookstore and the single paper cards at Bee Happy Crafts and I started working. 

I was already making pages for my son's album (about 6 already) when the opportunity came for me and to buy online bacause we had a friend who was coming home from the States. Now, I already have my album (the cheapest one I can buy online) which holds all my creations and my son's photos. I have been hooked because working on the pages also takes me back to happy moments with my family and friends.

Leon's Happy Books

One of the things on my bucket list is to illustrate a children's book. And now that I have a 19 month old son, I have the perfect market for my illustrations and I thought, what is stopping me from making one?

So I picked up an old board book, painted gesso and gel medium and started cutting up photos and drawing.

Since we love to sing nursery rhymes, I wanted to do my favorite Filipino kiddie rhyme Ako ay may lobo. 

Niporri Fabric Town

I wish I had discovered my love for fabrics the year I went to Japan. I just had to indulge with my roommate Elia and for our last few days in Japan, we visited Nippori Fabric Town. It's in a small area in Tokyo where shops are side by side each other all selling fabrics. The most popular store was Tomato and they have the cutest assistants too!

Here are some of the snippets around town. I will have a separate post on the fabric designs which are so divine and kawaii!

Throwback Thursday: Felt Creations

One of my officemates asked me to create these felt items for her daughter's birthday about 5 years ago. These also came with a canvas bag that they can decorate. Since my computer was recently revived, I took the chance of backing up these files and posting them again in my blog.
