Niporri Fabric Town

I wish I had discovered my love for fabrics the year I went to Japan. I just had to indulge with my roommate Elia and for our last few days in Japan, we visited Nippori Fabric Town. It's in a small area in Tokyo where shops are side by side each other all selling fabrics. The most popular store was Tomato and they have the cutest assistants too!

Here are some of the snippets around town. I will have a separate post on the fabric designs which are so divine and kawaii!

Someone is happy :)

Throwback Thursday: Felt Creations

One of my officemates asked me to create these felt items for her daughter's birthday about 5 years ago. These also came with a canvas bag that they can decorate. Since my computer was recently revived, I took the chance of backing up these files and posting them again in my blog.

DIY: Flower Doily

This is an easy fun project from my friend Karen A., I told her that I'll post in my blog because it's so easy to make and it will really make a nice accent piece for your events.

Special thanks to Nicole V. Who art directed this tutorial :)

Materials:
Doily and stapler

We used a small doily, the size of a coaster. You will need a longer stapler if you are using a big doily.
Gather 10 doilies together (you can do as much as 15) and staple in the middle.
Then you just fold the doilies, like forming petals.
Just alternate your folds to create a semblance of petals. And here's what the end project looks like.
You can get your doilies now at National Bookstore. But there are fancy ones (really pretty) at Tie Me Up Buttercup at the Lower Ground Level of Shang East Wing.

Craft Project: Personalize my planner

These past few weeks, I have discovered a lot of things. How planners have evolved and a surge of crafters around the world are doing it. Also, snail mail is back and penpals but in a more creative way and it makes me more excited to be a "newbie" in this community.

And my blog is about these discoveries, learning, creativity, trials and errors of my diy projects and friends who visit my blog, I'm sure share the same passion.

But my recent discovery of beautiful planners and nice embelishments came with a price, so I decided to try and make myself a decent one. I went to National bookstore and found me a green planner (i told myself if my plan doesn't work at least I like the color) for P270 (about $5.50) used up my points so I only paid P70 for my new planner.

These were my fabric options for the project but chose the one on the right because it's less likely to look dirty that the lighter colored fabric.
My weapon of choice is this Modge podge for fabric. This is also my first time to use this kind of glue so I didn't know what to expect.
Just spread the glue evenly. You have to do it in parts so the glue won't stick on different surfaces.
I started on the cover.
After the cover has dried, I started with riing on the inside which was challenging because of the pockets.
I just used a regular cutter and scissors to cut those pockets.
And I finally covered everything! It took me two days to dry the whole planner, because I also glazed the cover and inside pages with Modge podge.
And now I'm excited to place the personalized inside pages that I also worked on.

Glitter Sheets

There are a lot of insipiring crafters. Lucky them that supplies are very abundant. The purpose of this blog is to try to create things at a cheaper cost.

Here's a step-by-step instruction on how to create glitter sheets :)

Use board papers because glue warps paper because of its liquid component.

Mix glitters and glue. My mixture proportion is 2 cups glue, 4 cups glitters. Also use proportion depending on how much you need to use.
After mixing, spread the glue-glitters evenly.
Here's my new glitter sheets!
